Best practices for transferring or converting your video tapes and home movies to DVD
What to remember when transferring or converting your video tapes and home movies to DVD.
- Make sure that the work you are transferring is done on site. Most dealers send their orders out to production facilities. Your home movies are precious. The last thing you would want to have happen to them is to get lost in the mail.
- There are several methods used when transferring your video to DVD. The two most popular are High Speed and Real Time dubbing. High speed dubbing is obviously takes less time but the quality of the transfer is compromised. Real time is the actual length of the video and the quality is superior. Ask that your transfer is performed in real time.
- Some video transfer facilities charge extra for splicing, cleaning and handling. Choose a reputable dealer that doesn't have any hidden costs
- Do not overpay! The average cost to duplicate a video tape is $19.95 for up to two hours. Most dealers will offer quantity discounts
