Elements to consider when choosing a Custom Picture Frame

  • First give some thought as to what color as well as the type of material your custom frame will be. Don’t underestimate the look of a simple black aluminum or simple would frame
  • Consider the surroundings. Your picture frame not only should enhance the print or art work, it should also compliment the area or room you are hanging it in.
  • Some prints look best with a window matte. Matting is a great way to direct attention to your photo print. The matting color can make a big difference. Its main functions to accentuate elements of the artwork.
  • All matting materials should be acid free and archival
  • Glass is a major part of a custom framing job. Not all glass is the same. At our framing shop we carry a wide variety of glass. Standard, UV glass and non-glare glass. Strongly consider UV or non-glare if you are hanging the print near a light source. UV glass will help protect your photo from harmful sunrays. Non-glare glass will significantly cut down on reflection caused by fluorescent and other indoor lighting.
  • The gauge of the wire or the strength of the support should not be taken lightly. If it is a big piece of artwork that is heavy make sure when the frame is built it has enough support
